Limited edition Lagrein from Marlborough.

Lagrein is a full-bodied red grape that hails from Italy. While it’s not often seen on New Zealand soil some producers are growing it in small amounts and when it’s done right, you don’t want to miss out! Stanrock Stanley Estates dedicate a portion of one of their vineyards in the Awatere Valley to growing their Lagrein, this ensuring its effectively managed right from the ground up.

The 2018 is dark and rich, with notes of black Doris plum, ripe cherry, heady vanilla, and spice. Medium to full bodied, with an intense burgundy colour, a gorgeous fruit driven style full of hints of black doris plums, ripe morello cherry and blackberries. Soft on the nose, with a lengthy palate and subtle finish. It's indulgent in the glass, leaving thick legs as you swirl it, allowing the flavour to really shine.
