Sileni Springstone (Grand Reserve) Pinot Noir 2019

A beautifully expressive single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Sileni Estate’s Springstone Vineyard on Hawke’s Bay’s cooler Mangatahi terraces.

Produced from low-yielding Clone 114 fruit, this wine combines ripe cherry and concentrated berry flavours with perfumed whole-bunch spice. The palate is rich, rounded and juicy, with layers of red fruit, savoury spice and fine, gently extracted tannins.

Half of the blend was fermented as whole bunches, while only free-run wine was selected for maturation. It was then aged in seasoned French oak barrels, allowing the fruit and spice to remain at the forefront without the influence of new oak.

A mature, characterful Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir that is drinking beautifully now.

Tasting notes: Ripe cherry, mixed berries, aromatic spice and a rich, rounded palate.

Food match: Excellent with New Zealand lamb, duck, grilled mushrooms or other earthy, savoury dishes.
