Hihi Wines is a small boutique winery based in Ormond, Gisborne. The label was launched in 2005 with 200 cases sold in the first year. It has grown rapidly with 2,000 cases sold in 2012. Over seventy award winning wines have been produced. Hihi means "Rays of the Sun" with all grapes sourced from sunny Gisborne, the first city in the world to see the sunrise. Hihi is also rare NZ bird, also known as the Stitchbird, and it graces Hihi’s revamped labels.
