Description
Description
Textural. Complex. Unmistakably Wairau.
Crafted from two neighbouring vineyard sites in Marlborough’s central Wairau Valley, Framingham True Nature is a small-batch Sauvignon Blanc that blends the classic vibrancy of Marlborough with a focus on texture, subtle complexity, and site expression.
Sourced from 26–29-year-old vines, grown in stony, low-vigour soils of greywacke gravels and silts, the fruit benefits from sun and wind exposure that intensifies concentrated citrus and stone fruit flavours.
In the winery, 70% of the juice is fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, while 30% is fermented in large French oak vessels (500–5000L) to add weight and complexity without overt oak flavour. All parcels are aged on lees for 6 months before blending—creating a Sauvignon Blanc that’s as much about mouthfeel as it is about aroma.
Tasting Notes: Vibrant and expressive with flint, Meyer lemon, nectarine, orange citrus, and hints of tropical fruit. The palate is fleshy and driven, with flavours of ripe lemon, stone fruit, sweet herbs, and fine acidity.
Food Pairing: A versatile match with seafood, shellfish, Asian cuisine, chicken, and vegetarian dishes.
Region: Wairau Valley, Marlborough
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Winemaking: 30% barrel fermented | 6 months lees ageing
Style: Textural & complex Sauvignon with a refined aromatic lift
A bold expression of site and season - classic Marlborough with a distinctive Framingham twist.
Reviews
93 Points - Cam Douglas - Vibrant, fleshy, fresh and new with a bouquet of lemon and apple, lots of fresh green herbs then a touch of white peach. Youthful and expressive. Crisp and dry, saline and and salivating. Flavours mirror the bouquet with white fleshed orchard fruits and citrus, some prickly nettles and bell-pepper moments. Some lees and spice attributes build in complexity and power. Best drinking from 2023 through 2026.
92 points – Real Review - Bright, fresh and lively wine with citrus/lemon curd, grapefruit and lime zest flavours. Ripe acidity will suit those who normally find the acidity in sauvignon blanc a bit too hard or green. Attractive wine.
