From France’s Jura region, between Burgundy and Switzerland, this is Pinot Noir from a different school: bright, composed and quietly savoury rather than heavy or overblown. Expect notes of cherry, plum, spice and wild berries, with a soft, rounded palate and elegant tannins.

Domaine Maire handpicks the fruit, ferments it in temperature-controlled stainless steel, then ages the wine for 8 months in oak, including a small portion of new barrels. The result is a Pinot that feels polished without losing its freshness.Why buy it
