ORGANIC WINES

Organic wines are generally made from grapes grown on vineyards that have been managed without the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers, pesticides, or herbicides.

Instead organic winegrowers rely on ecological processes and naturally derived products focusing on soil and vine health by nurturing a diverse, rich community of plants, soil, insects and microorganisms.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a common standard for organic wine globally with each country relying on their unique certification system for “organic produce”. In New Zealand BioGro is the largest and best-known certifier for organic wines. You can easily spot organic wines throughout our site by the symbol above.
