Gewurztraminer
Pronounced: Geh-vertz-trah-meen-ah
- Found across the world from the USA to Austria to Chile to here in NZ, it’s grown around the world! The common theme is that it’s mostly found in the cooler regions.
- Gewürz will vary from fuller bodied and higher in alcohol to
- sweeter and lower in alcohol.
Delicate yet generous.
Gewurztraminer is voluptuous in breadth yet smooth in texture. It's distinctively floral and layered with subtle acidity. It's often an off-dry sweetness and you'll find a subtle twist of ginger lingering in the background.
Gewurztraminer has been enjoyed across Europe for centuries and is mostly grown in cool climates such as Germany and Northern France. The name Gewürztraminer means "Spice Traminer" or "Perfumed Traminer" in German the reason for this becomes obvious when you pitt Gewurz against spice!
Pair with Indian and Moroccan food to test the "Spice Traminer".
