Grapes were first planted in 1788 in Aussie, but they did not initially do well. At the time, there was a lot of enthusiasm for making wine but less practical know-how. That changed in the 19th century, when several people brought grape growing and wine making knowledge to Australia. In the mid-1800s, immigrants with wine making traditions arrived and brought their wine knowledge with them.

De Bortoli Rosé Rosé 2020 (King Valley) Grown on the De Bortoli family estate in the King Valley, the vines are now over 20 years old and producing wine with great character, balance and complexity. This is a Rosé made predominantly from Sangiovese and pours a pale pink with intense fruity aromas of peach and pomegranate. The palate is round and full with freshness, spice and texture.

Calabria Private Bin Pinot Bianco 2020 (Riverina) A little bit toasty, a little bit herby and a little bit zesty. Delicately fragranced with green melon and soft peach, the palate is then surprisingly soft with textural fruit flavours and a savoury, dry finish.

d'Arenberg Stump Jump Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2017 (McLaren Vale) Grenache is the hero, with its lovely rhubarb, blueberry and white pepper notes. The Shiraz brings darker fruits, plums, fennel and earth along with a more robust texture and tannin structure which fill out the mid palate. Finally, the splash of Mourvedre adds exotic dried herb, lavender, iodine and cured meat notes along with a certain elegance and mineral tannin that draws the wine to a lingering finish.

Calabria Richland Pinot Noir 2020 (Riverina) The 2020 release is bright ruby in the glass with ripe cherries, hints of wild strawberry and juicy raspberry on the palate. This wine was made to be drunk now, so pop the top and enjoy!

Sans Pareil Estate Black Label Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (South East Australia) Beautiful ruby red in the glass, the 2018 Cab Sauv from Sans & Pareil Estate is juicy, lively, and incredibly fragrant. Crafted from grapes taken from around South East Australia, itys filled with notes of vanilla, blackberry and cinnamon. The tannins are soft and easy, and the acidity is just enough that it lingers on the palate.

Sister's Run Epiphany Shiraz 2018 (McLaren Vale) Named for the young winemaker’s dash to the car mid vintage, it’s made from grapes sourced from family vineyards throughout the Barossa and is produced in line with the teams ethos ‘the best wine, is the wine you like’. Its rich, spicy and savoury with the classic Barossa depth of flavour we know and love. Try it with hard cheeses, or simply by itself in the run down to winter.
