Akarua

The land is an integral part of Akarua’s values when it comes to producing quality wines. Being Family owned, their second generation of family leadership is now entering a new age of innovative winemaking. As a progressive team, they are focused around producing the finest Pinot Noir.

Using a minimalist, gentle approach allows the wines to express the purity of fruit and terroir. Bringing a unique advantage to their range with no less than 12 trophies and 28 gold medals.

As one of the first bands of pioneering vineyards Akarua uses the captivating landscape of Central Otago. Planting their first vineyard in 1996 a small vintage range was first produced in 1999. With their knowledge growing alongside their vines, the quality of their wines has increased year by year.

From their original vineyard in Bannock Burn, they have expanded to Felton Road and Lowburn. Now with over 100 hectares of land, this small family-owned winery has grown into an internationally recognised and award-winning brand.  Specialising in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Rosé, Riesling and Sparkling Wine.

Using sustainable ingredients from the four coasts of the South Island their wines take on their own reputation. In the next decade, we will be seeing a progressive milestone for Akarua as they celebrate their site reaching twenty plus years of age; under the care of strong family leadership.
