Details

Syrah originated in the Rhône Valley, France, where it produces medium bodied red wines with beautiful fruit profiles. It was around 1830 when it reached Australia and the Aussies originally used Syrah for fortified wines but once they soon discovered its potential. The name Shiraz then followed when the uniqueness of Aussie Syrah was truly realised.

Yalumba Y-Series Shiraz Viognier 2020 The blend of Shiraz and Viognier is nothing new. Its spiritual home is in the Northern Rhone, where Viognier lends its aromatic perfume to the big, lush Syrah’s of the region. Australia also blends the two, with bottles most commonly coming out of South Australia. The grapes are fermented together, and the result is a deep, dark wine filled with savoury notes of pepper and cedar and lifted with Viognier florals like rose and violet. This one is great value for money and we’re sure it’s going to fly out of the warehouse. Grab a case before they’re gone. Drink now and into 2022

Whistling Duck Shiraz 2022 A great everyday drop, with rich notes of cassis, blueberry and plum finished off with vanilla and spicy cinnamon. It drinks well on its own, or with a beef rib roast, spaghetti bolognaise or puy lentils cooked low and slow.

Gunn Estate Shiraz 2020 (Australia) Looking for an uncomplicated yet delicious wine to enjoy mid-week? Look no further than Gunn Estate's 2020 Shiraz! With grapes sourced from around NZ and Australia, the wine boasts notes of blackcurrant, plum, and a hint of vanilla and pepper. Its easy tannins and acidity and medium finish make it a great choice for any occasion. Pair it with your favourite chicken or beef dish for a delightful meal. And with consistent quality from vintage to vintage, you know you're in for a treat. Cheers!

White Cliff Shiraz 2021 (NZ) The White Cliff Shiraz has notes of blackcurrant, plum and finishing with a vanilla spice. The acid and tannins are balanced, and the medium body makes this wine a great pick to serve alongside most meals. The team at White Cliff understand how to make the most out of their grapes and by doing so we’ve seen a real continuation of quality between vintages.

Quinta de S. Sebastião Rare Red 2019 (Portugal) Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Portugal’s native Touriga Nacional have been blended together to produce a plush, full-bodied wine. Dark fruit flavours and spice mingle on the palate, with notes of blackberry, plum, dark cherries, and leather. There is oak here, but with only six months of contact, the ripe fruit flavours really shine through. Enjoy with grilled meats and blue cheeses.

Tea Tree Gully Shiraz 2021 (Riverland, South Australia) The nose is fragrant with clove and toasted nut aromas. The palate is rounded with succulent flavours of ainseed, vibrant dark fruit, pepper and chocolate. Firm, dry tannins, subtle oak and rich well balanced aged characteristics.
