Grapes were first planted in 1788 in Aussie, but they did not initially do well. At the time, there was a lot of enthusiasm for making wine but less practical know-how. That changed in the 19th century, when several people brought grape growing and wine making knowledge to Australia. In the mid-1800s, immigrants with wine making traditions arrived and brought their wine knowledge with them.

Banrock Station Rosé 20200 (South Australia) Displays fresh lifted strawberry, cherry and citrus aromas, with hints of spice. A rich creamy palate with concentrated berry flavours and soft tannins lead to a balanced lively acid finish.

De Bortoli DB Family Selection Pinot Grigio 2021 Pale straw in colour. Subtle aromatics, pear and lemon zest, and a hint of herbs. Light and clean with a nice palate weight. To secure the desired colour tone the juice is hyper-oxidized prior to alcoholic fermentation. Part of it is fermented in 14 year old French barrels whereas the rest is inoculated with a selected strain of yeast in controlled temperature stainless steel tanks. The wine is then kept on fine lees for 3 months to help intensify the flavours and add texture to the palate.

Killibinbin Sweet Heart Chardonnay 2019 (South Australia) This low alcohol, summer style wine has been made for the young at heart who are looking for a refreshing white wine to enjoy with friends in casual settings. Fruity with a slight spritz it is a perfect afternoon drink or aperitif. 9% abv.

Tea Tree Gully Shiraz 2021 (Riverland) The nose is fragrant with clove and toasted nut aromas. The palate is rounded with succulent flavours of ainseed, vibrant dark fruit, pepper and chocolate. Firm, dry tannins, subtle oak and rich well balanced aged characteristics.

Just 'Cos Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 "Sourced from the legendary Metala Vineyards. Matured 18 months in French barriques, 25% new. A big traditional cabernet. Ripe black berries, rich chocolate layering and a chewy palate texture, though the tannins are rich and soft." - James Halliday

McPherson XV Pure Cabernet Merlot 2020 (Central Victoria) Their 2020 Pure Cabernets is made from Cabernet taken from their estate vineyards with Merlot added for softness, colour, and flavour. Individual parcels of fruit were kept separate all the way through fermentation before being meticulously picked over and only the best chosen for the final blend. This is a wine to be both drunk now but also kept over the next 5 years. Decant, swirl, and enjoy!
