Bogle Chardonnay 2021(California, USA) From American Winery of the Year! The Bogle Chardonnay is big, bold, and beautiful just like it’s state of origin, California. It would be a crime not to include this chardonnay in any white wine line-up as this is a fan-favourite superstar with a slew of awards under its belt. From an iconic wine family - the Bogles are a six-generation farming family. The first generation in 1870 moved to California from Tennessee and set about trying to grow cherries, peaches, and pears. Sadly, that failed for the Bogles, but better things were to follow. The fourth generation, in 1968, planted 20 acres of grapes and grew for other wineries in the region. In 1979 they built the winery, that still stands today, and produced their own labels. Fifty years on, Bogle winemakers continue crafting great value wines from over 1500 acres of vineyards in the Clarksburg & Lodi areas in Northern California. With all this experience & passion the Bogle farmers & winemakers know a thing or two aboutguaranteeing unrivalled quality for value. Bogle Chardonnay is all sun-drenched Californian grapes, barrel aged in American oak for 8 months. It’s big, rich, buttery goodness in a glass with a little bit of yumminess for everyone. Showing green apple & pear aromas with honeyed vanilla notes & rich creme brûlée on the palate. Handcrafted and award-winning - Say no more!

Johner Estate Chardonnay 2021 Quality-focussed producer Johner Estate (pronounced, ‘Yo-ner’) make wines that undoubtedly speak of NZ, yet are infused with a European ‘sensibility’, thanks to the German owner Karl Johner & Swiss winemaker Raphael Burki. You might say, Karl Johner has a foot in both camps as he crafts wonderful wine in opposite hemispheres, with family estates in Baden, in Germany’s Kaiserstuhl region as well as here in NZ. Johner Estate is located near Gladstone in the Wairarapa north of Wellington, amongst an enclave of small boutique wineries but with big voices, as their exceptional wines have made a massive impact in a short space of time. Since its inception over 20 years ago, Johner Estate has gone on to expertly handcraft wines from the vineyard to the glass from classic varieties which are made in a distinctive yet traditionally elegant European style. The Johner Estate wines are all about revealing delicate nuances and flavours whilst deftly showing great depth and a persistent finish. This chardonnay has appealing citrus purity showing vivid white peach & nectarine noteswith hints of pineapple. It is lightly oaked and has both minerality and complexity to compliment an elegant and long finish.

Maison Louis Jadot Bourgogne Blanc 2020 This Maison is a true French icon. Thirteen Awards for Winery of the Year in the past 25 years certainly is testament to one of the most venerable, most trusted, and revered wine houses in Burgundy. Jadot’s winemaking team has maintained a fine balance between tradition and technology in their winemaking. And it shows in this all-time classic chardonnay. An affordable yet very delicious white Burgundy is an essential - like the little black dress- of your wine fridge. The Jadot Bourgogne Blanc is an exclusive, cuvee bottled by the Maison with fruit sourced from top notch vineyards that run the length of the Burgundy appellation, but with more fruit from Meursault and other vines from the Cote de Beaune in the blend. Also, it has a good portion of the final wine spending eight months in barrel giving it a rich texture and a hint of woodsy vanilla that creates a sense of gravitas, weight, and a mineral finish.

De La Terre Reserve Chardonnay 2022 Talented Tony Prichard is a Hawke’s Bay winemaking legend, ex-Church Road & several others, and now doing his own thing crafting elegant and engaging wines under his own De La Terre label. The unique winery name ‘de la terre’ literally means ‘of the earth’ and is a reference to both the all-important vineyard soils, and to the earth brick construction used in the winery and cellar door, lovingly handmade by Tony, his wife Kaye & team. This is a rich and complex Chardonnay designed for bottle aging. Texture, balance, and elegance are the three cornerstones of De La Terre’s winemaking – the Reserve Chardonnay clearly showcases this. Also, this is a wine designed to work with food – powerful and complex but not dominating the food. Its buttery, but not too buttery, its oaky but not too oaky and with very clever wine making to highlight its structure. The nose shows a wonderful marriage of warm pie crust and toasted grains, baked pear, and white floral notes. On the palate the wine is rich and broad, with more perfectly ripe orchard fruit, lovely complex lees components and great length. Grapes for this wine were picked from vines hand-selected by the winemaker. 100% barrel-fermentation in French barriques (50% new), with 50% undergoing malolactic fermentation. Tony’s meticulous handcrafted approach means that all the wines are Estate bottled, labelled, and individually hand-numbered.

Whyte Estate Chardonnay 2022 (Marlborough, NZ) This Marlborough chardy over-delivers big time! And what better way to describe a sensationally slurpable reasonably priced chardonnay than in the witty words of wine critic Yvonne Lorkin: “You told the universe that you wanted oak, you wanted roast peach, you wanted creamy, nutty notes, and that you also wanted ripe, tropical sensations and a rich, apricot and nectarine-like mid-palate. Generous and juicy and way too easy to drink. It’s simple and sippable and got summer written all over it.Stock up fast before everyone catches on to this winner! The late Joyce Whyte, a spirited pioneering woman born to English & Polish Jew parents, had as her lifelong dream to have a vineyard and winery. Her daughter & granddaughter finally fulfilled her dream when they established a small boutique Marlborough winery, Whyte Estate, in her memory. At the winemaking helm is the esteemed German-Kiwi winemaker, Theo Geisen of renown winery Geisen Wines.
