Don’t miss this one. The Hawkes Bay, on the east coast of the North Island, is known for its rich reds and fruity whites, a result of its warm and dry climate. The 2018 vintage in the Hawkes Bay was one of the warmest in recent years and this allowed the grapes to ripen longer and to their fullest before being picked. What does that mean for us? Wines with great fruit intensity, length and integrated acid and tannins. The Wither Hills 2018 is rich and warming, with black Doris plum, sweet vanilla (from the range of oak used) and rich mocha. Try it with a rich stew or a few squares of your favourite dark chocolate at the end of a long day. Enjoy!

18/20, Wine Central Tasting Panel

88 Points, Cam Douglas MS "Distinctive, familiar, fruity almost masculine bouquet of Merlot with aromas fleshy dark plums laced with vanilla pod and baking spices, dark cherry and velvet rose moments then toasty almost smoky wood. On the palate - dry, plump and fruity, plenty of plums, cherry and wood flavours all rolled together. Firm tannins and acidity to match, but nothing the right food could easily tame. Balanced and almost ready with best drinking from late 2020 through 2023."
