Echenor Malbec 2019 (Mendoza, Argentina) A young, bright Malbec, this one will be great as a weeknight quaffer and will age into something more serious in the next few years. The acidity and tannins are smooth and well-integrated, its spicy and fruity on the palate, with notes of vanilla, cassis, and violet on the finish.
Campos de Luz Garnacha 2019 (Spain) It’s got a deep, inviting red colour with aromas of fresh dark cherries, plum, and a hint of black pepper. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and lush with notes of raspberry, spice, and earth. The tannins are supple and easy going, and the finish is nice and long. It’s more serious than other Spanish Garnachas out there at this price point, that’s for sure!
Laurent Dublanc Côtes du Rhône 2019 (Côtes du Rhône, France) A blend of Syrah and Grenache and Mourvedre, the colour is intense ruby red, clear and brilliant. With dark red fruit, strawberries, current and on the nose, it's rounded out in the middle with subtle vanilla and spice. So well balanced you can call it easy drinking and serious, this wine will flow right along with the conversation, wherever that turns.
Mont Tauch Fitou Recolte Vieilles Vignes 2017 (Languedoc, France) From Vieilles Vignes (old vines) comes a rich, harmonious red with plenty of personality. Delicate woody aromas alongside red fruits and sweet spices lead to long, lingering fruit flavours and silky smooth tannins on the palate. A balanced, medium to full bodied wine that's an excellent match for meat meals.
Stanley Estates Stanrock Lagrein 2017 (Marlborough, New Zealand) Limited edition Lagrein from Marlborough. Look for flavours of black doris plum, ripe morello cherry and blackberries charm and a lengthy yet delicate finish.
Villa Cardini Sangiovese 2018 (Puglia, Italy) This is a beautifully balanced wine with great harmony between the tannin, fruit and acid. Cerise in colour and a nose of aromatic berry fruits and refined plum notes. Perfect with pasta and lighter meats.
