Rare and ridiculous price!

Highly decorated Mount Brown winery produce just 200 cases of their 100% Tempranillo, and we've secured a slim allocation at this incredible price.

Tempranillo, usually synonymous with Spain, but today is planted all around the world from California, Australia and even in the Waipara Valley, NZ. Mount Brown Estates used clones directly from Rioja when planting their vineyards and today only very small amounts are made a small allocation of which we’re stoked to bring to you. While the 2018 has typical notes of plum and dark raspberries, there’s also something about it that is quintessentially NZ. The tannins are grippy but

not overpowering and the acid is well balanced. This is a wine to mull over with great friends and a killer charcuterie board. Drink now!

Thanks to its well-rounded nature, it's an extremely food-friendly wine. The earthy component compliments roasted red meats and it would also suit barbequed meat.  Its Spanish origins means it would make the perfect accompaniment to tapas such as hams, salamis, olives, and cheese.

Just 200 cases were made of this rare Waipara Valley example. The grapes were crushed to small open top fermenters and the wine fermented to dryness.  Post fermentation maceration was for 8 days when desired tannin extraction was achieved. The wine was pressed to barrel for maturation.  Natural malolactic fermentation was completed by spring.
