The Andes have spoken. Cab Sauv from the foothills of the Andes? You heard right - La Puerta from Argentina have released their 2014 Classico Cab Sauv and we’re singing from the hills about it! Jammy blackberry and plum intertwine with savoury green capsicum and herbs. With its pretty violet hue, it's nice to look at too! A little bit of oak treatment rounds out the edges, leaving the finish long and lingering.

Intense and complex aromas have hints of cherry, blackberry and a touch of ripened green pepper. A reddish-purple colour stands out in the glass. Full-bodied on the palate, with well integrated acidity and a nice tannic structure that provides a long and lasting finish.

In Spanish, La Puerta literally means  ‘the door’, and in the case of Valle de la Puerta it is the doorway to the to Andes Mountains, whose towering peaks rise well over 6000 metres in front of the domain.Here the glacial till that over millennia has washed from these mighty mountains has raised the valley bed to more than 1000m above sea level, creating the ideal conditions for growing grapes. A unique microclimate results with water from melting snows tempering the desert like conditions and quenching perfectly drained soils.

The result is amazingly dark, fully-ripened grapes that are hand-harvested and crafted into a delicious, concentrated red by one of the most modern wineries in Argentina.

Fermentation: 6 to 7 days at 25ºC in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with oak inner staves. Maceration Period: 3 days in contact with its solid parts. Malolactic Fermentation: The wine is pumped to larger vats and kept at 18ºC for malolactic fermentation to occur. Finally the wine is clarified, cold stabilized, filtered and bottled. Oak Treatment: Inner staves used during fermentation, covering 20% of the surface area.

We estimate delivery to be up to 3-4 working days for urban NZ addresses, and up to 5 working days for rural delivery. Offshore islands can take longer still. We are unable to deliver to PO Boxes. Delivery is via NZ Couriers.
