Pit Primitivo against Zinfandel other for an absolutely stunning celebration of this jammy, juicy tasting grape!
It's an age long argument, whether or not Primitivo and Zinfandel are the same grape. The answer: basically. There are only very slight differences in their genetic makeup, most likely coming from natural and geographical changes. Both are from an ancient indigenous Croation grape. This grape is known as Primitivo in Italy and Zinfandel in the United States, Australia, and other New World wine countries that grow this grape. You may also find Primitivo in New World countries. This simply means that those vines are from Italy, or from the exact clone of the Italian Primitivo.
Lifili Primitivo 2019 Dark Dark ruby red with bouquet of cherries and dried plums. These notes are accompanied by spicy aromas of vanilla and rosemary. This red wine from Puglia is perfectly balanced, complex and silky with a long finish.
Castle Rock Lodi Zinfandel 2018 (California, USA) This complex, full-bodied wine has aromas of ripe bing cherry, anise and boysenberry jam. On the palate it has rounded tannins, carries note of raspberry, and finishes with a hint of caramel. It provides an excellent accompaniment to grilled chicken, steak or lamb and most pasta dishes.
Primitivo di Manduria “Talo” San Marzano 2020 (Italy) One of the most important native vines in Apulia and greatly appreciated for its strong, concentrated grapes, meaning its quality and longevity are more than comparable with the great reds of Piedmont, Veneto and Tuscany.
Grande Alberone Quintus Rosso NV (Italy) Indulge your senses with our Grande Alberone Quintus Rosso NV, a luxurious Italian red wine that offers a sensory delight with every sip. Our winemakers hand-harvested the finest blend of Primitivo, Merlot, Cabernet and Teroldego grapes, and then meticulously crafted this full-bodied wine with soft tannins that provide a smooth and velvety mouthfeel.
Knotty Vines Red Blend 2018 (California, USA) The indulgent confluence of Merlot, Malbec, Zinfandel and Petit Verdot results in a velvety blend of ripe plum, coffee, black cherry and chocolate flavors with a smooth, rich finish. 31% Zinfandel, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 16% Malbec.
