A step up from entry level Barbera d’Alba, a wine classified as Superiore must be aged for at least 12 months before release. In this case, Le Masche was aged in French tonneaux (basically a huge oak barrel with the capacity of four normal sized barrels) for 18 months, increasing its intensity and capacity to age – we think for at least five years after release. Its intensely fragrant, with an obvious morello cherry and mulberry aroma both on the nose and on the glass. The acidity is distinct, but we think it adds to the wines complexity and helps the finish go on and on and on.

Described as a "dream that became true," BelColle was established 45 years ago by 3 brothers; Franco Pontiglione, Carlo Pontiglione and Guiseppe Priola. A team who would set a framework for a winery that would become renown for the passion put into its product.
Nowadays Belcolle practice sustainable winemaking with manual harvesting, slow grape pressing and balanced maceration, with the entirety of it all being centred around the idea of "transmitting, in whole, the balance and the harmony of the grapes into the bottle..."
